Joe was my best friend my senior year.  Both of us were into horses.  As I recall, I think we met on horesback.

Joe was kind of strange duck - then again, so was I.

We departed for Panhandle State together and were dorm roommates.  After the first semester, I realized that the agricultural sector just wasn't my thing and so I left Panhandle State.  I remember that Joe was pretty upset over my departure - not to say that I wasn't.  But the "cowboy" type of influences just suddenly lost their appeal and Panhandle State at that time was certainly a "kicker" school.

Joe was a very good friend and we had a lot of great times. We rode a lot of miles together on the outskirts of Pampa - and had many an enjoyable weekend at the "playdays" at the rodeo grounds.

After his first wife (Pam Sealey Grayson) met her untimely death, he just became less interested in old friends.  That is understandable.  And I was a weak person for not putting more deliberate steps into maintaining our friendship.

Joe, wherever you are, I hope you are at peace.  You were a great friend.

Tommy
