Jimmy Dale Harper, 65, of Pampa, passed away on May 28, 2016 in Amarillo.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Lefors, with Rev. Ken Houston, pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Harper was born on April 29, 1951 in Pampa. He attended Pampa High School and graduated from the class of 1969. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served on the U.S. Independence. After his discharge, he returned to the Gray County area where he worked and lived the majority of his life. Jimmy worked as machinist for several years and as manager for several restaurants and convenience stores in the area. Mr. Harper liked the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and riding motorcycles. Jimmy’s greatest love was his family; he liked spending as much time with them as he could. He will be remembered as loving father, Papa Jimmy, son, brother and friend, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Shannon Degner and Shonda Jones and husband Jami, all of Amarillo; a son, Jason Harper of Pampa; his father, Jim Harper and companion Evelyn Henry of Lefors; a brother, Johnny Harper and wife Cindy of Lefors; two grandsons, Jeron Degner of Pampa and Tucker Jones of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Dustie Degner of Pampa and Jordan Degner of Amarillo; a great grandchild, Kade Degner of Amarillo and a close friend, Dakota Pairsh of Lefors. Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Harper, and by a brother, Leonard Ray Harper.
