Services held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 in Trinity Fellowship Church North Ministry Center, 5000 Hollywood Road. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie, Okla. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mrs. Mercer-Meil was born Nov. 24, 1950, in Pampa to Dwaine and Margaret Mercer. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1969, where she was very active in the band. She was an All-State Twirler at Pampa High and was a twirling instructor. She later attended West Texas State University. Teresa worked at the American Quarter Horse Association for many years and loved her work. She attended Trinity Fellowship Church for several years and loved the Lord and loved reading and studying his word. She was a loving and devoted mother and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dale Mercer.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Michelle Dison of Amarillo; two sons, Michael Meil and wife Samarah of Amarillo and Mark Meil and wife Amanda of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, Stormi Dison, Tabatha Burdick, Gage Burdick, Kamdyn Hilliard, Taegan Meil and Hayden Hilliard; a sister, Judy Pierce and husband Jim of Sparks, Nev.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Faith City Ministries of Amarillo, Texas or BSA Hospice.

I was in the band also and I remember Teresa Mercertwirling. Mainly I remember that she was very pretty and her hair was always perfect! Sorry to hear about her passing.

When I got my first telephone of my own installed in my room (I think I was in the seventh grade) somehow I ended up with Teresa and me being phone buddies at night. To myself I called her my girlfriend, but not to anyone else because I knew that wasn't true, but for several weeks she opened up a new world to me that I had not previously known.
Back then when we said "Good Bye" it didn't mean much. Now it means everything.

Teresa was my best friend in high school, and we had such wonderful times in band and with Doug Laramore and Gene Key and other members of the "Pride of Pampa." Teresa was sweet and kind and had a great laugh! She was very disciplined to practice both her twirling and the clarinet. She was the best twirler I ever saw! During the summers, she would teach me a few twirling maneuvers - which I still remember to this day!
We both attended WTSU after high school and then were able to continue our friendship in Colorado Springs when my family moved there about a month after she and her new husband (who was stationed in C/S in the Air Force) had moved to Colorado Springs. I later got to enjoy her beautiful baby daughter and kept in touch with her throughout the years after she moved away - even though not nearly often enough - through hilarious Christmas letters she wrote and telephone calls as she later became the mother to two wonderful sons and experienced other life adventures.
In her "mature" years, Teresa re-dedicated her life to Jesus and became a wonderful Christian. It gives me such joy to know she is now in Jesus' presence. While her death is such a loss for me and anyone who loved her, I know that "all is well" with her for eternity!
