DeWey was in my 4th grade class at Sam Houston and he was such a sweet, easy-going guy. He had a bit of a speech impediment and it made him shy. But, he always did his homework and did well in class. I'm sorry that I didn't know him better in junior high and high school, but he did always give me a shy, but cheerful "hi".
DeWey married Shirley Farber in 1980 in Grey County. He died January 3, 1995 in Palestine, Texas.
DeWey and I had to become friends in the 5th grade at Sam Houston, Pampa Jr. High, and High School because our teachers were always mispelling our names: his became "Dewey" and mine became "DeWey". I think mine was spelled the same way as his our sophomore year at PHS. I will always remember him as quiet and friendly. Rest in peace, my brother.
