Terry and I played in a saxophone quartet together in 1967 or '68 that made a first division in Austin at State Solo and Ensemble contest. The other members of the quartet were Tommy Francis and Donnie Hall. That trip to Austin was a great one. I have many fond memories of Terry. He was talented and a good friend. He is missed.

Terry Williams was a dear friend despite a stupid falling out and fight our senior year in high school (how immature and stupid we were - thought we knew it all, didn't we?). We were mates in many forms of music: The "Reaper" and "Pride of Pampa" Bands, The Catalinas, the Swing Kings. Spent many nights with each other in our respective homes. I loved him like a brother. We did not speak throughout college because of that falling out though we were fraternity brothers (how did we do that?). We finally made our peace at the 20th reunion -thank God. I miss him just knowing he is now gone. Bless him and his family.

Terry was a guy who would do anything for you. A true generosity from a soft-hearted guy. One night he came into the FAB at WT and was severely depressed. He finally said that he just did the worst thing he had ever done.

Now Terry was providing booze for the freshmen when we were in the 7th grade, and he continued to lead an "active life," shall we say. So I could only imagine what he had done. He was finally able to tell us that he had accidentally run over a dog. When he realized what he had done, he stopped and asked around the neighborhood until he found out where the dog belonged. He went to the door and told them what had happened. The tears of the kids who lived there really got to him, and his genuine concern about the matter really got to me.

I shared, at least, one class with Terry from the 1st grade until we graduated and on through college. When he got a teaching job near Houston, Bill and I enjoyed many hours at the beach with him. He gave the impression of being a tough guy. However, he was the most caring and giving person. The first Christmas after Bill and I were married, we couldn't afford a Christmas tree. I opened our door one morning and a beautiful scotch pine tree was being held by him. He had "found" it during the night and gave it to us.

He lived life fast and hard. However, he was always very thoughtful and giving to his friends. He never asked for anything in return. I miss him and think of him often.

Peace, Terry. You are remembered.

Terry was a sweet fella in high school and in band.  Our freshman year at West Texas State University he was so kind to Teresa Mercer and me by giving us rides home to Pampa on weekends.  I realized later we didn't even offer him any gas money or anything - but he still was kind enough to never turn us down!  I'm sorry he passed away too early!

I remember Terry taking the time at Sam Houston to teach me how to throw and hit a ball. I became quite good also. I went from nobody wanted me on their team to being picked amongst the top few. He also brought an extra glove for me because he knew I couldn't afford one. He never knew it....but I wrote his name down a few thousand times in my notebook. Thanks Terry I still can...."Play Ball!"
