Sweet John Paul, I believe the loss of him was our first realization that our lives were very fragil. He was one tough cowboy, boy he could handle horses and pitch a loop. We miss you still! Lalla Mae Burk Davis
John Paul rode my sister's school bus and I used to ride the bus with her just so I could sit with him and talk, even though he was so shy he could barely say anything to me. I was crazy about him in Jr.High and right up to the day he died. God love him! He was just the sweetest guy in the world and his death was the hardest thing I ever went through in those teenage years.

Because of medical advances John Paul would survive lukemia today. We all learned a lot about courage and life from John Paul. Right up until his death he carried himself with pride and fearless dignity. I never recall seeing him unhappy.
John Paul's death was the first death of a friend I experienced and the first funeral I attended. Were we in the 9th grade then? It must have been because I remember being in the office (as an office aide) when the phone call came in that he had died. What a sad day.
