Happy Birthday, Cindy. I think I am a day or two late (as usual). I just wanted you to know I was thinking about you. Tell Nick I said "Hello"

This was about 1984. I was secretly doing a radio show every morning on the old KPDN. It was then called KSZN and for nearly 3 years "Robert Day" woke Pampa up in the morning. To this day few people know that Robert Day was actually me. LOL Why was I doing the show secretly? Well, I guess you could say I was keeping a low profile because of other businesses I had going at the same time. Then again, it may have just been part of the W.O.L.D. thing I talk about above.

In my 30s I put together a racing team called Affirmative Motorsports. One of our cars (not the one in picture) was built by none other than classmate Mike McComas. Mike still builds race cars and I can personally attest he knows his stuff. Mike and I talked at one time about forming a IndyCar team, but we never got around to it. Truth is, I don't think we could ever have come up with enough money to make it to the brickyard, but it was fun dreaming.

Last minute instructions from the crew chief. Any old dummie can drive. It is the crew that makes the driver a winner.

This is the Affirmative Motorsports fuel dragster Mike McComas built. Have you ever gone from 0 to nearly 300 mph in only a few seconds sitting only two inches off the ground? Neither have I. The little crazy dude in the middle drove this one.

The Racing Wall of Shame - You can not imagine how many thousands of dollars were spent accumulating this worthless hardware.
I posted these racing picture for two reasons . . . to prove Phillip Long was right and to remind myself
life in the fast lane never lasts.
By the way, did you know racecar spelled backwards is still racecar? Only word in the English language that will do that.

At age 40 my kids say I was a "Pompous Ass".
They are probably right. I don't even know this guy.

At age 58 I'm just glad to be alive . . . and not wearing ties anymore. Hopefully I'm no longer a "Pompous Ass".

On a recent trip to the Philippines I got a shave and a haircut. I think it was my first haircut in 6-8 years. I figure a guy needs to part with six bits every now and then.
